seeing with new eyes

A participatory activity designed to encourage people to look again at the world from 4 different perspectives by stepping onto eye shaped platforms. This activity took place both at The Shimmy Taster event in Roehampton and at the Shimmy Day itself.

As they stepped onto the platforms people were invited to :

1. Step into Someone Else’s Shoes…

How does it feel to be standing in someone else’s shoes?

What does it help you realise or understand in a new way?

2. Cover up your ears…

What do you notice without the sound of the outside world?

3. See the world through ‘Rose Tinted Spectacles’

How does it feel to view the world through Rose Tinted Spectacles?

What does it help you see?

4. Look Skyward

Lie down. How do you feel taking an insect’s view of the world?

People reflected on the experiences by writing or drawing thoughts and feelings onto a specially designed fabric eye and added them to the Seeing With New Eyes evolving Art work.
