Laurie Walmsley

Communications and Marketing Lead

Biography

As a creative communicator and facilitator, Laurie's spent over a decade crafting compelling communications in the social purpose, public and private sectors, and coaching others to do the same. He empowers social purpose pioneers like Encounter Arts to scale impact, influence and income using strategic digital marketing. Laurie's work is driven by values of courageous care for people and nature, and freedom through creativity, curiosity and playfulness.

Laurie first felt Devon's magic in 2015, on WildWise's Call of the Wild nature connection facilitator training. After six months as a residential volunteer at Schumacher College, he decided to make Devon home. Prior to supporting Encounter Arts, as Network of Wellbeing comms manager (maternity cover) in 2019, Laurie oversaw its campaign to take its Share Shed lending library mobile, winning a £49k Lottery grant.

In between helping Encounter Arts share its stories and founding communications collective Align to Shine, in 2020 Laurie is excited to reconnect with playing guitar and storytelling. With any time remaining he'll be exploring Devon and Cornwall - maybe you'll catch him by the seaside!
